As mentioned in my previous post on wraps ( if you haven’t seen the post, do check it out now!), I love wraps! I love how simple and convenient it is. But do you know that wrap can not only do savouries but they can do dessert as well? (YAY!) Try alternating this dish from the usual toasted bread to this whole-grain wrap. Well, friends, this is the chance for you to use your creativity to be fun with your food! It is not only healthier but tastier as well. This simple dessert only takes an estimate of 3 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients per serving:
- 1 whole grain tortilla wrap
- 1 banana
- 1-2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter ( or almond butter spread)
- chia seed
- Heat your tortilla wrap in a pan 1-2 minutes
- Spread the peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
- Put on a banana and chia seeds
- Wrap and roll, and cut into slices like a sushi
- Sprinkle on some more chia seeds for decoration and crunch
For this recipe, you can alternate any fruits, spread, and toppings of your choice!
Different country had different kinds of wrap and looking through the Asian country such as Malaysia, ‘Popiah Wrap’ or Vietnam- ‘Goi Cuon’ a wrap in a parchment of thin rice paper, these 2 countries had used the wrapping roll more to savoury taste whereas the Philippines used the spring roll which the core inside was banana based. Taking a twist around, we decided to use this tortilla wrap which is originated in Mexico.
Well, let’s jump straight to the benefits that you need to know. Opting for a whole wheat tortilla could help prevent us from the risk of diabetes and metabolic syndrome compared to a plain wheat flour which removes nutrients such as folic acid, iron and fibre. By spreading peanut butter over this tortilla wrap, it could help protect us against any heart disease by reducing the chance of bad LDL cholesterol which controls weight gain. Adding banana on it can reduce the chance of cancer and asthma, blood pressure. And with a sprinkle of chia seed is good enough as it contains many antioxidants.
