Stir-fried Clam Pasta

Have you guys ever been invited to a potluck party where you have to bring a dish over to people’s house? If you do, have you guys ever felt stress about what to bring there?  To be honest, because I am a people pleaser which seeks attention to be complimented on, I will make sure that I create a perfect dish that everyone loves.

Well, I am sure that everyone loves pasta. I mean, who doesn’t? If you have already read my previous post on tomato beef pasta, you know how much I love pasta! (If you haven’t read it yet, please do check it out right after reading this post!). You know how we as students are always often busy with our usual stuff, hence we are constantly looking up for recipes to cook a dish that is quick, simple and delicious (time is gold!). And if you are one of them, you are at a right place as I will be sharing a recipe on stir-fried clam pasta!

Why is this pasta so good you say? Well, in the past, I would only stick to the usual tomato bolognese or cream pasta. But one day, I thought to myself, why not try a different variation of pasta. And from there, I immediately fell in love with this style of cooking.

Now, let’s jump straight into the ingredients and preparations needed to prepare this mouth-watering meal! To prepare this meal, it only requires a handful of simple ingredients and most importantly, it takes only 15-20 minutes to prepare both the ingredients and to cook the pasta.

Ingredient for 2 serving :

  • 20 clams
  • 100-gram of spaghetti
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • 8-10 fresh basil leaves
  • 4 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup white wine

Preparation:

  1. Wash the clams and soak them in salt water for at least 30 minutes to remove any dirt and sands.
  2. Cook the spaghetti for 7-8 minutes. Add some salt and olive oil while cooking.
  3. Turn on medium heat, pour in the olive oil and fry the garlic and chili until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the white wine. Add clams, cover, and steam till most of the clams open. Discard any that do not open.
  5. Set aside the clams that opened and pour the chicken broth into the frying pan and cook until boil.
  6. Add the cooked spaghetti and clams and mix well.
  7. Lastly, add the basil leaves and you can serve immediately.

Being a seafood lover, this dish is able to enhance its natural clam’s fragrant instead of using instant tomato puree or cream sauce which if not cooked well, can create an artificial aftertaste in your mouth. With the freshness of clams, cooked with chicken broth, garlic and chili make a perfect combination as it blends really well together.

Yes, I have already mentioned to you how simple and delicious this plate of pasta taste. But have I already mentioned to you that this is also healthy to your body as well? By having this simple clam pasta, you can enrich your health as clams are rich in iron and protein as compared to other kinds of seafood. Besides, it is rich in protein that we needed in our daily consumption.
