Lemon Oregano Chicken


Many students struggle to think of what to cook/ prepare for their meals (because I am also one of them lol). As we students are often overwhelmed by the workload of assignments and test that we needed to prepare, we often neglect to pamper ourselves with a good meal. When I mention a ‘good meal’, you may be imagining those atas food that is served in a high class or expensive restaurants which cost you over Rm15 for a meal. But why spend that unnecessary money when you can cook yourself a good atas meal at your own home?


So, here’s a recipe to those of you who are looking for a simple, healthy and delicious meal for your lunch or even dinner. I got this idea to prepare this recipe as I remembered when my uncle made this chicken marinate for a barbeque session in a family gathering party. This meal only takes an estimate of 5 minutes to prepare with an overall 25 minutes for the meal to be served using only a handful of simple ingredients needed (: Now, let’s jump straight into the ingredients and preparation needed to make this delicious plate of a meal!

Ingredients per serving: 

  • 1 chicken breast fillet
  • 1 tablespoon of dried/fresh oregano
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of olive/vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper


  1. Mix in the oregano, lemon, garlic, oil, salt, and black pepper in a bowl
  2. Rub the mixture on both side of the chicken breast fillet and let it sit for 10 minutes
  3. Put the chicken breast fillet into an oven for 350-degree celsius for 20-25 minutes

That is it! Look how simple it is to prepare. There are many ways that you can enjoy this piece of chicken. It can be served with tortilla wrap, rice or even on itself. There is nothing to not like about this dish. Most importantly, it is also healthy for your body as oregano contains a rich source of Vitamin K and the most vital oil which is thymol and carvacrol which could help to fight against bacteria. Most importantly, they are proven to have 42 times more antioxidants compared to apples, 30 times potatoes, 12 times in oranges, and 4 times in blueberries. The addition of lemon in your meal is said to control your blood level since they are rich in potassium and clears out any toxins from the body and prevent the formation of kidney stone.
